Have you ever read your resume to God? I have, but not straight through with dates from and to (I mean, I would do that If actually thought it would get me somewhere) but I have mentioned to God my experience and "all I've done for the Kingdom" and to be honest it sounds pretty pathetic.
God knows my resume. He's the one that opened many of the doors so I could have a resume. Why do I do this? Probably desperation and fear, but it's not anything God hasn't heard before.
The disciples offered a version of this when they said,
Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”
and Jesus responded,
Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.
Sometimes we can be like people at a potluck who are concerned they're going to run of food, "What then will there be for us?". Like all believers, we can consumed with a "where's mine", mentality that is birthed out of fear but we must remember, God see us.
The writer of Hebrews offers us this encouragement,
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:10-12
If you're afraid of being left out.
If you're afraid of not "getting yours"
If you're afraid that God has forgotten you.
Let me encourage you to unpack these verses and remember, God knows your resume, your sacrifices and your hardship.
