Greetings Awesome Person,
Food is a love language.
I just finished a series I wrote called A.C.T.I.O.N Figures and felt it was time for a youth led-night. As with all my youth-led nights, I ask students, "What's my job?" They said, "Make us food!"
I'm no chef, I just like to cook. So, I asked, "What am I cooking?" and one of my students, Taylor, said, "Seafood boil!". I have some experience with this as our family has had crab boils the day before Thanksgiving, but this would be the first time cooking it myself.
I think it turned out pretty well and some even asked for seconds as well as offering a few "Thank you for cooking for us".
Cooking for and serving my students is a great opportunity to put myself on a plate that says, "I love you guys". A meal is as good as a message if it includes sitting around asking students about their week and sharing your heart with them. It's what families do.
