Have you ever had a lyric from a song just stick with you?
I was scrolling through The Blaze (New CHH) on Spotify and I came across a song called LIGHT UP by Kkah$o. The song is fire but it was these lines that stuck with me,
Don′t call me a Christian, I'm a disciple
You heard what I said that, that wasn't a typo
Christians gone follow religion and titles
I follow the teachings I read in the Bible
Have you ever not wanted to admit you were a Christian because of this...?
The term Christian seems to have many interpretations these days, do you know how your students define it?
It's why I write and teach series like Shine a Light and my latest series A.C.T.I.O.N Figures to my students because actions speaks louder.
Rule of 1221, Chapter XII on how the Franciscans should practice their preaching:
No brother should preach contrary to the form and regulations of the holy Church nor unless he has been permitted by his minister … All the Friars … should preach by their deeds.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
If there is anytime for our students to shine, it's now.
Light Up!
Have a great week,
Paul
P.S. If you need a little extra kerosene to pour into those lantern, I wrote a Bible Study for Light Up. Hope it makes your youth ministry shine brighter. If you decide to use this the study, I'd love if you sent me a video or picture.
I put a video down below where I do a walk through.
Axis is a fantastic resource that can bridge youth pastors and parents. Do want to earn the respect of your parents? Help them disciple their kids and not just let them know about the next event.
