Greetings Awesome Person,

Are you familiar with this picture?

The girl is Lucy and the block headed boy is Charlie Brown and this scene isn't new to either of them. Lucy convinces Charlie Brown, every single time, that she will let Charlie Brown kick the football and every time, for reasons, she pulls the ball away and Charlie Brown flies in the air and lands on his back in a pile of embarrassment and shame.

My guess is, at some point, someone has pulled the ball away from you. For me it's Notre Dame or NY Giants football, every year it's "Trust us Paul, this year it will be different".

Lucy can be life, a friend (?), success, your parents, your church or your students. Disappointment is hard and comes fast and often.

Good news is, Jesus will never do this to you, me or your students.

Unlike Notre Dame, His promises are yes and amen.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20

and

As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:11

My hope is that you get to kick a few footballs this week but if you miss a few, it's not the end of the world.
